Q: Why are you sticking with the Palm OS, being that many people have upgraded to another device?
A: The main reason is that Palm has always been our favorite platform; and while it is true that many users have switched to another platform, there are still thousands of others who keep their Palm OS-powered device. There are very few developers still offering content for this platform, so we see it as an opportunity to keep serving those users who have supported our work throughout the years.
However, we would also like to offer good quality products and services for users of other platforms, so for the 2011 season we will be introducing a new product for them. See Mobile Sites for more information.
Q: Will your apps work on an iPhone/Windows Mobile/Symbian/webOS device?
A: Yes, our apps have been certified to work on StyleTap, a runtime for Palm OS applications that works on iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Symbian devices.
They have also been certified to run on the new Palm webOS device using Classic, an app that emulates the "classic" Palm OS in this new and exciting platform created by Palm.
As a matter of fact, Rodrigo, the developer, recently changed his phone for a Palm Pre with the new webOS. A collaborator at Sport-PDA, Patricia, owns a Treo smartphone with Windows Mobile, and we have both been able to run hundreds of Palm apps on them, including those from Sport-PDA, and can say that performance is even superior than in a normal Palm OS device. Both of us are registered users of these applications and are very pleased with them.
Q: Will your apps work on a Blackberry?
A: Unfortunately, not at this time.
Q: Will your ('insert name here') Palm app be available for next season?
A: We had stated in the past that we would continue to develop Palm OS apps until the last Palm device was sold. The Palm OS was officially discontinued in 2010, but we enjoy this platform so much, that we will continue to provide applications for it in the future, as long as sales are enough to at least cover our development costs.
